Hungarian as an adult can only be learned by understanding and being aware of its structures. Anyone who wants to teach you without grammar is just trying to sell you a fantasy. However, I won’t let you be trapped in the last century with only the content of grammar exercises and translations - we will need so much more: vocabulary building, pronunciation practice, everyday language use, understanding the strategies of dialogues, developing our learning strategies, motivational talks and more. I am committed to involving you in the use of language, and to seeing language not as an aim, but as a tool for learning about community and culture.

You've probably already been introduced to the most important cultural elements: gulyás, lángos, pálinka. But is there more behind them? If you want to understand why Hungarians act the way they do, you need to know Hungarian history, the ongoing social dynamics, our approaches to the world, our neighbours, work, sport and much more. In the different courses, you will be invited on a journey into Hungarian culture, according to your level, in order to understand more about it from the depths. And remember: by understanding other communities and individuals, you will learn the most about yourself.
